Longchamp is truly one of the most iconic French brands and in the last decade, the brand was able to successfully reinvent itself, giving it a new lease on life – something not all iconic brands are able to do.
There’s no turning back since Longchamp Creative Director Sophie Delafontine decided to change visual merchandising for the brand and and soon after delved into producing ready-to-wear. They’ve also been working with very on-brand personalities like Coco Rocha – a potent mix of vibrant and classy. Quite recently they renewed their partnership with one of fashion’s current it girl, Alexa Chung, another great choice for Longchamp.
Inspired by the designs of the Memphis Group, Longchamp’s Fall Winter 2015 collection is a visual feast manifested in graphic shapes and bold colour combinations. Beautifully matched to the patterns of the high silk and polyester shirts and dresses are Longchamp’s signature bags, Le Pliage. The collection exhibited a wonderful blend of hues manifested in clean lines and in a dynamic mix of graphic shapes with geometric patterns.
Every outfit is of course perfectly complemented by sharp tailoring befitting of a great French fashion brand that is evident even in the small details. One of the most beautiful detail from the collection is that of the contrasting glazed panels on a velvet lambskin, it feels and looks luxurious. Subtle but vivid accents like a glamorous flash of gold on dark coloured leather jackets provides surprising but beautiful contrasts.
