Fab at every age. This is the mantra of fashion insiders that dare to challenge the notion that the concept of beauty and fashion is undeniably tied to youth. With Marc Jacob’s announcement of Cher as the face of his next campaign, we can’t help but applaud him for his bold choice in casting.
The 69-year-old actress and singer – in the new photo, shows off her gothic side in a floor-length pleated black gown from Jacob’s dark, moody fall 2015 collection inspired by Diana Vreeland’s apartment in her later years. Cher donned a natural look with minimal make-up and her silky black locks worn down as she sat on a chair in front of a red background.
This is not the first time Mr Jacobs went all out to make a point about beauty in old age. Last year 64-year old Jessica Lange was announced to be the new model for Marc Jacobs’ beauty line. The ad photographed by David Sims and styled by Katie Grand – editor of Love magazine was fêted at Sephora’s Champs-Elysées Paris flagship store in March 2014.
