Jeffrey Fashion Cares is one of the leading fashion charity events in New York City that focuses on LGBT rights. This year, the organisation has appointed Zachary Quinto as the co-host for this movement.
“It’s such a powerful time to be gay,” said Zachary Quinto’s on his opening speech at last night’s Jeffrey Fashion Cares benefit auction. The event included a silent auction, a live auction and a fashion show dedicated to menswear that featured a multitude of pecs and abs.
“I think we’re living in such a crucial moment in the evolution of LGBT equality and rights. On one hand you have the incredible ground that we’ve gained in the last five years, but on the other side of it you have people in Indiana and Washington who are crowd-sourcing a million dollars to monetize and publicize bigotry and hatred. I feel like unity and visibility and standing together and raising awareness and raising money and combating that kind of hatred is really important now more than ever.”
Established in 2002 by Jeffrey Kalinsky, the event has raised more than US$5 million for various charity organisations that focus on LGBT Civil Rights, HIV prevention and research and education for LGBT youth.
The event drew fashion’s biggest names including the US Vogue editor, Anna Wintour, Joseph Altuzarra, and Narciso Rodriguez and featuring more than 40 of the industry’s top male models.
