UK Selfridge’s To Discard Traditional Gender Binary Clothing Section

Selfridge’s, the iconic London’s department store, has decided to eradicate the entire women’s and men’s sections in order to combine them into a three-floor genderless clothing store. According to the Daily Mail, Selfridge’s will be carrying several unisex brands including KTZ, Trapstar and Hood By Air.

The department store will eliminate their current mannequins and revamp their beauty sections and accessories to fit into the overall theme.

“We want to take our customers on a journey where they can shop and dress without limitations or stereotypes,” Selfridges told The Times Of London. “A space where clothing is no longer imbued with directive gender values, enabling fashion to exist as a purer expression of ‘self.”

The UK seems to be inching towards the right future. From the February UK Vogue cover featuring black model to this. They seem to be standing in the front line of modern social equality.
