Is Maison Martin Margiela Couture Designer Moving to Celine?

The musical chair game is starting again. The rumour mill has been abuzz that Maison Martin Margiela couture designer, Matthieu Blazy, might be moving to Celine.

Critics have been nothing but kind to Blazy and he was dubbed as “artisanal” by many due to his couture collection for the brand. As we previously speculated, the unveiling of the identity behind the secretive world of Martin Maison Margiela a few months ago by Suzy Menkes was, most likely, a PR move to increase the designer’s profile.

In Menkes last review on his design for the couture line, she spoke glowingly about this young designer, “It is rare in fashion to have [an] ‘a star is born’ moment,” Menkes reported. “But, as Raf Simons, the young designer’s former boss, hugged his protégé backstage, it was clear that Blazy’s moment had come.”

With John Galliano was named the Creative Director for Martin Maison Margiela, it is fairly obvious that the house might not require two couture designers.

We can’t wait to be proven right.
