Give it to Russia to run against popular opinion.

Citing a source close to the company, Russian newspaper, Kommersant, said that John Galliano will be joining the cosmetic chain, L’Etoile as the Creative Director.

L’Etoile said Galliano would be responsible for developing the retailer’s house cosmetics brand, Kommersant reported.

The designer, best known for his wildly imaginative sense of style, was the head of French fashion houses, Givenchy and Christian Dior before his well-recorded fallen from grace debacle.

Galliano was caught on tape making anti-semitic remarks and declaring his adoration to Adolf Hitler at a Paris cafe. Later, he apologised and blamed the pressure and his drug abuse for his seemingly out-of-character outburst.

L’Etoile’s parent company Alcor & Co is Russia’s largest cosmetics chain with about 850 branches —nearly four times more than nearest competitor Rive-Gauche, which has 224 stores.

In 2013, L’Etoile reported a revenue of 56 billion rubles ($1.61 billion), marking a 16 percent increase from the previous year, Kommersant reported, citing data from INFOline-analitika.

Well, at least it’s not a German company. Imagine the pun on the comment section. It would look like a field day orgies
