(NSFW) Well known German artistic photographer, Elias Wessel, boasted quite an impressive range of photography portfolio. His work can be found on the pages of Vogue Italia, W and the New York Times.
Back in 2011, he collaborated with the transexual superstar, American model and artist Amanda Lepore (Our personal favourite) for ‘There Must Be More to Life’, an art photography project which was shot at The Jane Hotel in New York City and presented in 2012 as a multimedia exhibition at the Art Directors Club Gallery.
The book explores the journey of Amanda Lepore through self-reinvention and discovery which sometimes, props Lepore in a sexual or contemplative manner and juxtaposes herself towards an imaginary projection if she were to grow old as an older man.
More than a year after the exhibition, Hamburg publishing house Norman Beckmann Verlag & Design has published an art book containing the photographs of Elias Wessel’s project, aptly conceptualised as a children cardboard picture-book in close collaboration with artist and book designer Philipp Hubert (of Hubert & Fischer Design Studio in New York).
