Presenting his “all black” collection – Death & Destruction, couturier Frederick Lee packed the show venue at Marina Bay Sands Convention Center for Fide Fashion Weeks, with fashion enthusiasts all eager to see the work of arguably Singapore’s best couturier. Known for his colorful use of fabrics, feathers, embroidery and beads, fans of the designer are curious to see his dark collection.
With sound and lighting alluding to an early halloween set, Lee presented a collection in different permutations of black embellished by different textures and gradation of blacks – from feathers to crystals to black on black – shimmering blacks or matte blacks, its visual message is nothing short of being captivating and hauntingly beautiful.
Lee made use luxurious materials of silk, leather, satins, embrodered and crystallized fabrics, fox tails all taking different forms that gloved the models’ body perfectly. Closing the show is a horned-muse dressed in a majestic painfully detailed gown complemented by cape-like exotic feathers that added drama to the presentation.
