If you guess David Gandy, you are wrong. Forbes compiled a list of the highest paid male model in 2013 with a combined income of US$8 million. It is pale in comparison to the female models, which collectively raked in US$83 million. It is one of the few industries in the world where female actually dominates. Look at the list below:
5. Noah Mills with $740k
Sitting prettily at no. 5, This IMG-based model, hailed from Baltimore, made his first modelling debut on 2003. He has since appeared on major fashion campaigns including Michael Kors and Versace. He forayed to Hollywood through a small role in “Sex and The City 2” who appeared salaciously with Kim Cattrall’s character, Samantha Jones. His latest venture as an actor was on a indie movie called, “Wracked”, in which he wrote and produced.
4. Artur Kulkov with $905k
This 30-year old Russia-born model career is quite unique. The trajectory doesn’t follow most male models that they have to start from walking on runways and appearing magazine editorials. He shot immediately quickly appearing on Sisley, Barneys, and Russel & Bromley. His earning mostly comes from multiple-year-contract with Tommy Hilfigher and Dolce & Gabbana. Maybe, Dolce & Gabbana is grooming him to become the next David Gandy. Time can only tell. ( NY Agency: Quest Model Management)
3. Simmon Nessman with S1.1Million
Hailed from Canada, I have been following Simmon career path from the very beginning at 2007. He rose quickly as the permanent male model for various brands including Calvin Klein, Versace and Dolce & Gabbana. Nessman is currently the face Giorgio Armani and on his eight consecutive years as the face of Michael Kors. (NY Agency: Soul Artist Management)
2. David Gandy with $1.4 Million
Who doesn’t recognise David Gandy campaign for Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue in his iconic skimpy white speedo and beautiful ocean in the background? He is one of the few male models who is consistently working despite his age. In the business since 2001, he has held contracts with Hugo Boss, Banana Republic and Massimo Dutti. Gandy is also one of the few male models who could proclaim that he is a supermodel along with the like of Tyson Beckford. To prove that model is more than just meet the eyes, Gandy has produced his own fitness app and a regular contributor for GQ and British Vogue. (NY Agency: Ford Models)
1. Sean O’Pry with $1.5 M
Sean O’ Pry path to “model-dom” was a bit of weird one. Discovered at 17 from Myspace (who these days still has Myspace account, anyway?), he soon landed campaigns left and right including Calvin Klein, Versace, D&G, Ralph Lauren and Michael Kors. He also appeared in Madonna’s “Girls Gone Wild” video alongside Jon Kortajarena. O’Pry is the only model in this list that appearance is single-handedly managed worldwide by one agency, VNY Model Management. We have yet to see what he will come out next, maybe to follow the entrepreneurial spirit of David Gandy or, perhaps, a taste of Hollywood like Noah Mills. On a rare public interview in 2013, however, O’Pry declared that he wanted to just settle down and live in a small farm with his future wife and children. How can a guy be this perfect?
