Swarovski earlier announced the launch of a new cut and cutting edge fusion development: Maison Martin Margiela Crystalactite for Swarovski. The cut’s groundbreaking Crystal Fusion technique merges crystal and matte white resin during the production process, before being cut, making gluing unnecessary and creating a startling futuristic and avant-garde, asymmetric beauty.
The Martin Margiela Haute Couture show last summer presented five remarkable Haute Couture pieces featuring Crystalactite, plus special integrated clips that allow each piece to be worn anywhere from hair to footwear In addition to the Haute Couture pieces.
Maison Martin Margiela has long had an interest in jewelry as an expression of its design aesthetic. A cornerstone of the brand’s creative expression is recuperation, transformation and reinterpretation, achieved through a collaborative process—a collective contribution from the Maison Martin Margiela team, whose vision for this project was inspired by stalactites: “Naturally and spontaneously, an imposing crystal emerges from its raw, stony origin, patiently growing into its iconic stalactite shape.”
The fusion of Maison Martin Margiela’s clean and innovative style with the sparkling purity of Swarovski crystal makes it a perfect creative partnership, described thus by Maison Martin Margiela: “Collaborating with SWAROVSKI was an opportunity that could not be resisted. This project achieved outstanding outcomes from a design and a technologically advanced point of view, creating a complex structure with a natural aesthetic.”
“Working with Maison Martin Margiela redefines the spirit of collaborative innovation, yielding something previously unknown and, therefore, truly unique: Crystal Fusion Crystalactite is a world first, and we are very proud to unveil it,” says Markus Langes- Swarovski.
SWAROVSKI will also launch an Atelier Swarovski collection inspired by the Crystalactite collection. Maison Martin Margiela for Atelier Swarovski will feature a pendant, ring and bracelet, each of which displays the same standout futuristic and avant-garde asymmetry that is earning the couture collection its headlines.
The Maison Martin Margiela for Atelier Swarovski collection will be available in selected stores, from December 2013.
